Love Your Miles launched in 2022 as a mileage-based motor insurance provider, using telematics technology to help people get a fairer price on their insurance – based on the actual miles they drive.
Operations Director Julie Gardiner explains: “The idea behind Love Your Miles was to provide a flexible and affordable alternative to traditional motor insurance, one that actually reflects how people are driving.
“We needed a technology partner to help us bring that life and bring it to market, fast. We’d all worked with Open GI before, so we knew the company and the Core platform. We knew Open GI were a safe pair of hands, but we also knew they were innovative and agile. It’s exactly the combination we needed.
Going live
“From the initial conversations we had with the team, to going live with their Core Cloud platform, took just 16 weeks.
“We knew our customers were tech savvy and would want to interact with us online, so every part of the customer journey needed to be self-serve, and it needed to be smooth.
“We worked together collaboratively to create and customise the system to process our usage-based information, and plug in to our underwriters and other service and enrichment partners. Core Cloud allows our customers to buy their policy online through our front-end website or app, track their usage, download and upload documents, make mid-term adjustments at their own convenience, and web-chat if they need further assistance.
“Basically the system does all of the hard work so human intervention can be saved for the touchpoints where it adds most value. That means we can really focus on the customer and not the admin, because it’s all taken care of.
“When curveballs and hurdles have come along, as they always do, Open GI have been brilliant. They work with us to find solutions, keep us up to date – and keep us on track. Nothing is too much trouble, and they definitely feel like a part of our team, and a part of our future.
Looking ahead
“One of the things that’s helping us plan for that future is the reporting that’s built into the system. It allows us to analyse quotes and dig into the detail on things like market rates, consumer behaviour and trends – all which is allowing us to hone our existing services and identify new opportunities. That includes things like moving into the behavioural driving space, tracking and rewarding good driving behaviours specifically to support younger and newer drivers onto the roads safely.
