Employees complete multi-national charity challenge

Members of the Open GI team have been getting very active to complete a demanding virtual challenge.

Over the past few months, employees have covered the entire distance, using whatever means necessary, between the company’s six European offices.

The participants took on the 3,341-mile route of the “Tour de Open GI”, which began at the Worcester office on 29 August to coincide with the well-known Tour de France’s Grand Departs.

The 32-strong team jumped on their bikes, laced up their running shoes, dusted off their hiking boots and in one case even took to open water, to contribute towards a running mileage total that was reached 11 weeks later. All whilst respecting social distancing guidelines!

Everyone who took part donated to the company’s chosen charities which, this year and the next, includes Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Their combined mileage took in virtual visits to Open GI’s offices in Milton Keynes, London and Winchester, along to Krakow in Poland and the Northern Macedonian capital, Skopje, before making the long trip back to the UK on the same route.

“This has been a great way for our employees to work together towards a goal, whilst keeping fit and raising much needed funds for our charities at the same time.”

Simon Badley, Open GI Group CEO
